What's the best place to store liquor?

Research this topic enough, and you'll find yourself repeatedly coming across the phrase, "a cool, dry place." This was the exact phrase the Bacardi customer service representative used when we queried the company on the subject, and an online article entitled "How to Store Bottled Whisky" (sic) invokes the phrase almost immediately. We interpret this to mean that there actually ARE improper places to store liquor (a hot, wet place, presumably) and that a cabinet of sort in an ordinary room-temperature location serves the purpose adequately.
