Can chicken soup really cure a cold?

It can relieve the symptoms, which is almost as good. Stephen Rennard, M.D., a pulmonologist at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, made this discovery several years ago by testing a relative’s recipe for vegetable-filled chicken soup. Analyses revealed that the soup actually prevented a build-up of neutrophils. These little demons cause the inflammatory responses that made a person with a cold feel so lousy.
