What dating information is on boxes of tea, tins of loose tea, etc.?

Tea packages we looked at either had a "Best if used by" or "Best before" date printed on them, or neither. When dates existed, they were all many months in advance. This confirms the consensus about tea bags and leaves, which is that they don't actually "go bad" to the point of becoming hazardous, but time on the shelf does affect their taste.
