How should fresh apples be handled while preparing them?

Wash your hands for 20 seconds with warm water and soap before and after preparing apples. Also wash cutting boards, knives, and other utensils. before and after using them. Thoroughly wash apples prior to peeling, slicing, or coring them. This will prevent bacteria on the skin from contaminating the flesh.   Likewise, wash apples thoroughly before eating them whole. Pat apples dry with a paper towel prior to cutting or eating them.
