How can I get the odor of onions and/or garlic off my hands after cutting these vegetables?

Reader comments on Thrifyfun.com provide a huge range of suggestions that tell you how to use these products to get  rid of the odor: salt, coffee grounds, lemon, vinegar, shampoo, and toothpaste.  Other suggestions involve using stainless steel by rubbing your hands on your sink or a utensil.  If all else fails, there are recommendations for inexpensive items to buy.  Bed, Bath, and Beyond sells a stainless steel bar of “soap.”  Target sells the ChefMate® Scent Eraser.  Most drugstores sell disposable plastic gloves.  Buy ones that can safely be used for food preparation.
