Can fresh cherries be frozen?

Yes. The cherries will keep for up to a year if stored properly. Before freezing them, wash the cherries thoroughly to remove any debris. Next, lay the cherries out to dry on a dish cloth or paper towel. The cherries should be thoroughly dry before you freeze them; otherwise, they will stick together.

Place the cherries on a cookie sheet or in a baking dish and store them in the freezer until they are frozen solid. Place the frozen cherries in a sealable plastic bag or in small, single-serving bags. Squeeze out excess air from the bag to avoid freezer burn.
