Can cake be frozen?

Yes, cakes can be frozen for an indefinite period at a temperature of 0°F or lower. To enjoy good quality, however, consume the cake within 2-3 months.

Prior to freezing cake, refrigerate it overnight to firm up the icing. Frozen cake should be thoroughly covered in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and stored in a freezer bag. Use a vacuum sealer to remove excess air from the bags. Any oxygen left in the bag will draw moisture from cake, resulting in freezer burn.
