Where To Buy The Freshest Produce

Fresh produceNow that summer is in the air, you may be longing for fresh-from-the-farm produce.  It’s often described as more delicious and nutritious than the usual supermarket products, and  it’s not out of reach, even for urban dwellers.

You don’t need to take a day off from work and drive to the country.  Fresh produce will come to you. Where?  To find it, you can go to a farmer’s market or join a community-supported agriculture program  (CSA), sometimes referred to as a community garden. (The latter involves buying a share of the  program in return for a box of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables every week.) How do you find one of these sources near you?

Also, phone your local village hall and nearby ones.  There could be some new farmers’ markets that just opened and that are not on the site yet.

Of course, your local supermarket probably carries some organic produce, which is likely to be fresher than its nonorganic products.  But,  for freshness, nothing beats purchasing right from the farm.
