What shelf-life information is included on the packaging of frozen entrées?

Frozen entrées may carry a "sell by" or "use by" date determined by the processor. If dates are specified on packaging, they are quality dates rather than safety dates. Food quality refers to such characteristics as  taste, texture, scent, appearance, and the nutritional value claimed on the package. Products that are safe to eat when they go into the freezer remain safe no matter how long they are frozen.
