What does the “best by” date on apple juice mean?

Apple juice has a “best by” date, usually found around the cap or neck of the bottle. This date has nothing to do with safety of the product. It is, rather, the last date the manufacturer will guarantee that the product is at its peak quality in terms of such factors as taste, scent, color, or nutritional value.
