Is there a way to tell, via smell, taste, appearance, texture, etc., if milk is spoiled?

As regular milk perishes, it usually develops a fruity or unclean odor, turns sour from lactic- acid-producing bacteria, and it may form clumps. Science researchers at Cornell University and elsewhere identify several “off” flavors and odors associated with bacteria (e.g. fruity, rancid, unclean) and oxidizing processes, including “burnt hair” aromas and “plastic” flavors.
