New Recall - Deli Meat and Ground Beef

RecallGot any deli meat sandwiches in your fridge or ground beef in your freezer?  Then check out the brands and code dates on these  recalled products to see if what’s in your house might be contaminated.

Deli Meats:  Zemco Industries, a Buffalo, N.Y company, has recalled 380,000 pounds of deli meat that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.  These products were distributed nationwide to Wal-Mart and to delicatessens, where they were made into sandwiches.   Though listeria is unlikely to make a healthy adult sick, it can result in serious illness for people with weakened immune systems.   For further information about this recall, contact Gary Mickelson at (479) 290-6111.

Frozen Ground Beef:  Valley Meat Company of Modesto, CA, has recalled about one million pounds of frozen ground beef patties and bulk ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli 015:H7, a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration, and, in the most severe cases, kidney failure.
