If I use only half of a tomato, what’s the best way to wrap the rest?

The cut side can be placed flat on a plate and refrigerated that way with no wrapping at all.  (Wrapping may hasten ripening and development of a mealy texture.)  Alternatively, the cut side can be placed in the center of a piece of cling film and then the sides brought up about it very loosely.  The tomato will last longer if  not cut off from all air.
