How should turkey be baked?

The oven temperature should be no lower than 325°F. To determine the approximate cooking time, consult the directions that came with the turkey or a cookbook. (Note that stuffed turkeys must be cooked longer.) But don’t assume that, when that time comes, your turkey is “done.” The turkey is “done” when it reaches 165°F and not before then. Use a meat/poultry thermometer to check the internal temperature in three places: the innermost part of the thigh, the wing, and the thickest part of the breast. Likewise, place the thermometer in the center of the stuffing. Do not assume that, when the turkey is 165 degrees, the stuffing is also.
