How long after purchase will packaged, pre-cut spinach remain good to eat?

Due to new packaging methods that extend shelf life, packaged pre-cut spinach may be consumed up to the "use by" date. However, once the package is opened, the spinach can degrade before the "use by" date if it isn't refrigerated in an air-tight plastic bag. This is because anti-oxidative gases that preserve packaged spinach escape from the original packaging once it is opened.
