How long after purchase will ground beef remain good to eat?

The rule of thumb is to cook refrigerated ground beef within two days of purchase or freeze it.

If frozen, ground beef is safe for an indefinite period, but it is best if consumed within four months.

Frozen ground beef stores best when wrapped in heavy-duty plastic wrap, freezer paper, or plastic bags made for freezing.
