How can I find out about the tap water quality and safety in my area?

The quality of tap water varies from place to place depending upon the source of the water as well as the treatment it is given. If your water comes from a public water supplier (which is the case for most people), your community’s water supplier is required to send you an annual water quality report (sometimes called a consumer confidence report) that tells you about the source of your water and the contaminants found in it. If you want more information than the report provides, contact your water supplier.
