Does a brown color at the center of a ground beef patty indicate the patty has been thoroughly cooked?

Studies suggest that internal meat colors should not be used as an indication of “doneness.” In a nutshell, some patties cooked to lower temperatures may prematurely turn brown.  Patties must be cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F.  Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature has reached 160°F.
