Can I refreeze ice cream that is partially thawed?

Only if it is still cold. For reasons of quality, it isn't advised, though. When refrozen, ice cream loses the air whipped into it during manufacture and assumes a gummy, grainy texture. Refreezing melted ice cream also can produce larger ice crystals that leave ice cream much grainier.
