Can eating brown lettuce make be sick?

A little browning is normal as lettuce ages. Nevertheless, it's best to trim off the brown parts. You can still eat the parts that are green and crisp.

Excessive browning is a sign of spoilage. As the lettuce browns, it collects moisture at the bottom of the bag. The moisture eventually becomes a breeding ground for mold. If you see excessive browning or moisture, discard the lettuce.
