If peanut butter can't support the growth of bacteria, why the concern about salmonella?

The problem is the presence of salmonella rather than its growth. Although the U.S. Centers for Disease Control doesn’t believe peanut butter provides sufficient moisture to support its growth, salmonella can start growing again once it reaches the intestine.
