How should processed pasta sauce be stored?

Because it is pasteurized, pasta sauce can be stored at room temperature until it is opened. Once opened, pasta sauce should be  stored in the refrigerator at a temperature of 40°F or lower.

Pasta sauce in jars may be stored in its original container. Opened canned products  (meaning ready-to-eat meals containing ravioli, spaghetti, and macaroni) should be transferred to an airtight container. Otherwise, the sauce will acquire a metallic or tinny flavor.
